Eco Tourism at Koh Tunsay (Rabbit island)

Koh Tunsay is in Kep province of Cambodia. It is an ideal place to get away and to stay in the quiet place and life like in a village. 

This island is one of the eco tourism place of Cambodia.
How to get there
Get a bus to Kep province, there are many bus service available from Phnom Penh to get there, it cost around 4-5USD$. It would be smart to talk to the bus driver or people work on the bus that you want to go to Koh Tunsay and ask them to drop you off at the nearest bus stand before reaching bus stop. Because from that bus stand is only about 150 meters from the port.
The boat from the port to the island is about 30 minutes. The cost is depend on your negotiation. Usually they charge about 25USD$ for the go and return back, so you can share that cost among your group.
Accomodation
Generally, you dont need to book accomodation in advance as not many tourists to the island. But in the occasion of Cambodia national holiday, you should book in advance. The cost is from 5-10USD$ per night.
The accomodation is very simple bungalow that made of wood and leaf, just like a normal loca house.
There is a simple bed and a mousquito net. You might need to prepare some extra things with you such as mosquito body spay, tooth paste, tooth brush, soap, shampoo etc.
The sound of the cricket and small bird from the tree making the this island an amazing place to get away. Especially in the early morning, the sound of the nature surrounding is the most peaceful time of the day.
Local People

Few local families that live on the island build and rent bungalow and it is under the watch of the local community for the protection and sanitation. They are very friendly they also run the restaurant on the island providing Khmer and some item of Western cuisin as well.
Beach
The beach is light yellow sand. Water is just very calm, clear and not deep. You might walk into the water for about 20 meters and you find the water is just at the level of your thigh.
Bring a gogle with you for swimming as there is amazing view under water such as fish, star fish. Sometime there are gellyfish but usually they are small as kid's palm size, which not harm but some time there is a little bigger size which you should be avoid to not take risk though people said that it is ok.
Sun Set
Sun set at Koh Tunsay is beatiful and peaceful. Take a moment to enjoy your evening at the beach with the cool wind and watch the sun set goes down to the fog above the water.
Treking around the island
The island is quite small that you get get around just about in 2 hours. Flip flop is very convenient for this trekking for walking on the small stone on some part of the island. There are several family live around the island which they are the local people who live their life with fishing and grow sea weed. More photos of Rabbit Island
